Posts: 2598 Mar 2 10 3:05 PM	Depends on the severity of hearing loss. Getting it SC is the hardest part, especially if your SMR do not show a HL while in service or upon discharge. If you are SC for HL, it is not uncommon for someone to be 0% SC because it requires substantial loss of hearing before compensation begins. See Hearing Loss Charts. Tinnitus, if SC, is awarded 10%....if in one ear or both.

Posts: 2782 Mar 4 10 1:00 PM	The requirements for hearing disability (not compensation) are: Loss of 40 db or greater at either of 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, or 4000 Hz frequencies; or 26 dB or greater at three or more of these frequencies; or, speech discrimination in either ear that is less than 94%. These criteria are not contained in the compensation tables but will result in a 0% award when a compensation rate is not met.
