Posts: 4 Jul 29 09 8:43 AM	My husband ,who is retired AF, will be 59 this year and is planning on retiring from the civilian world next year. What happens when he dies? I understand I will not recieve his military retirement but how do I go about getting his Social Secuirty? Will I still be covered under TriCare Prime until My medicade kicks in? We are just trying to get all our ducks in a row early. Appreciate all your inputs, JoAnn

If you were then he was required to take out survivors benefits (SBP) unless you signed paperwork agree for him not to take it. It could be for an amount up to 55% of his retirement. Yes you will maintain your tricare prime as long as you pay the payments. At I believe 65 your tricare will convert to tricare for life.
