Any one else get a survey form from the VA asking about how you feel about the VA hospital care you are getting?

I have received them in the past, but not recently. I always fill them out and send them in in the fervent hope and, perhaps forlorn, expectation that my
responses may help effect change for the better.

' I have not received any in over 11 years but I have filled out numerous "LettersTo The Director" forms. This is for the VA
Hospital in Houston , I was wondering if they are monitored and count?? I dont know and all my letters concerning care have been positive. just thought I would
throw than in the mix--

This is their Customer Satisfaction Rating, just like you get when you buy a new car. But, unlike buying a new car, not every patient receives one. The
Patient Advocate is the person at my VAMC that is the one that is responsible for the collection of the data. I had a long discussion with her about it one
day. So, since everyone doesn't receive one, all the numbers are suspect. (She claims by the numbers that this VAMC is the best in the country). I would
hate to see the worst.
I can't say for sure, but I bet if you are someone that rattles the cage, they probably won't be sending you one. (Over the past year, I have had over 30 appointments and never received one.)

VA Healthcare survey | #6 | ||

YES-Just received one this week-It is a very lenghty survey asking questions about quality of care AND my health-it asks questions about my health affecting
daily activities and depression, etc. The cover letter states it is anonymous, but it is coded, so I am concerned about completing it-probably will not.. I am
anxious to here what others say.

What are you worried about? They know where you live, that you had a recent appointment, that you get your care from a VAMC, etc ad infinitum. It's coded
so they can run it through a machine and compile the information. You'll get a follow-up if you don't send it back.
On this subject I always state: If you do not participate don't EVER bother moaning and groaning and kvetching about the VA or the treatment you receive at a VA facility... It's like voting, if you don't vote you have invalidated your right to complain.

It's like voting, if you don't vote you have invalidated your right to complain.Excellent Point. I did NOT Vote Yesterday, or Last Month...and I will NOT Vote Today, Tomorrow, or Next Month. The Person(s) that I Voted for, May or May NOT, be the same as others have Voted for. Therefore, what the person I Voted for...and what the person someone else Voted for...may indeed be two separate people. Again, Therefore, who the other person Voted for...may have done ALL of the Right Things, according to that person who Voted for that Person. And the Person that I had Voted for...may have done things that others just wouldn't understand...because it did NOT happen to THEM. That is Exactly My Point, when I tell of My Experiences with either or both...the SSA or VA...what "little" I DO Tell. And just because, at the Present Time, I choose NOT to go to the VA...does not, in any way, Stifle Me from Stating My Opinions and My Experiences. I would VERY MUCH Prefer to have another Veteran read about Another Veteran's not-so-good Experiences with the VA...and then THAT Veteran goes to the VA and has the GREATEST Service and Overall Positive Experience, EVER. Than for a Veteran to go to the VA thinking that EVERYTHING is A-OKAY...and will be A-OKAY...because NO ONE said anything about Anything Bad about the VA. And because of that A-OKAY Attitude...and being UN-Prepared for what "MIGHT-HAPPEN"...and NOT that it WOULD HAPPEN. This Veteran is Traummasized by NOT being Prepared for the "POSSIBLE". It is Simply BEING PREPARED. IF More Veterans were/are PREPARED. And knowing what is Their Responsibility and what is the VA's Responsibility...there Would BE More Responsibility. Survivir |
