IF YOU SEE Anyone in a wheelchair with a dog you automatically assume that that person cannot walk therefore has a disability; If you see someone who is blind with their guide dog in a harness and they may or may not have a guide rod YOU KNOW that person has a disability... when you cannot see a disability we automatically have questions fire into our head... what could it be? In my presentations I ask kids what are some disabilities you probably can't see... many will still say some of the physical disabilities but I focus on the mental and psychological realm listing: bipolar, severe depression, schizophrenia, agoraphobia, OCD, PTSD, Anxiety disorders (there are a lot), Dementia, Autism My point is when somebody sees you and they think hey they look normal to me but why in the hell do they have that service dog. YES we do not have to tell them WHY we have the dog and YES it is extremely rude of them to ask IF they are confrontational about it I will stand up and let them know the facts of SD and the ADA but if they are just a customer or a child I am more apt to say "well I have a disability that causes me to need this dog so that I can be as normal as I look" I am in the process of researching what it will take to establish a non profit that INFORMS the public and campaigns for PSD awareness and acceptance AND also Trains the dogs. My primary focus is veterans first but not excluding anyone who needs to know about or may even need a PSD.

You guys are AWESOME! LOL- You wouldnt beleive how - ignorant - The Capitol hill people - in suits and all those people walking around and in office- asked can I pet your dog- and whats he FOR? Before I even had a chance to get up there- There were hundreds of people at that Capitol hill for hundreds of different things and alot of mental health issue things going on cause State of montana taking away money for cutting budget. They dont have mnoey any more- hearings going on. So Zeus and I during a break sat out in the hall of this beautiful capital hill - and these people- came up to pet him- I went off- on couple people- I dont care- I said DONT TOUCH HIM- LOL I dont think this place was the answer- be honest - It was a start but not the answer- they got too many other problems- Need to do this ourselves. I see that now. Using the avenues of our Advocates of state disabled human rights and our own rallies- DONT TOUCH- I told another lady in convsationn in a wheel chair who loved zeus-- I told her about- men touching zeus on butt- SEXUAL HARRASSMENT CHARGES- ha ha ha ha ha...she said that is a new one... Well I was heard -- had 5 minutes- and was recorded on some tv thing and I didnt know it till came out of the room and these peoople sitting out in hallway said you were awesome- if Id known I was going to be on tv- holy smokes. Well anyway- I said bla bla bla- need strong support- bla bla bla. How u going to take care of vets and this other vet went in front of me and we helped each other thru that- together- so that was perfect timing. the outcome- have no clue- and when - dont know. Guess in time- or next week when I see therapist- cause I left for my dental appt. Zeus had a very good day. There was another service dog there- but was barking in there- at people and jumping up on the lady who was taking care of it- and barking at zeus- ugh. annyoying- trying to bite him if it had the chance. LOL- zeus just looked at it like wow- whats its problem. Two other people had service dogs- but did not bring them I and I ask why- they said too long of a day -for the dog- I said no- they stronger then humans. another lady in va saw zeus and ask me how u get one- i told her bla bla bla- and so be it. Burned out today and zeus glad to see HIS DEER HEAD WHEN WE GOT HOME........

I am so sorry you had bad reception there, but can say that I am not a bit surprised. As for the service dog owner with a dog that barks and climbs on people- in my opinion, that makes a lot of us look really bad!!! That is NOT a service dog, I cannot even believe someone would bring a dog like that into public let alone CAPTIOL HILL- I was soooo angry reading that!!!

Hypothetical: Vet needs SD. Finds well behaved popular SD breed family type dog (say 3-4 yrs) that is leash friendly, etc. that needs a home. If the dog alerts to the door it could be providing a "minimal security" task. Dogs are smart enough to know that you are rescuing them. I thought I was rescuing Max. My psychDoc @ the time (she has 4 dogs) said that he rescued me. Shortly thereafter, I asked her for the prescription letter. She wrote an excellent one. So me thinking that an already happy, socialized, good friend that needs a home or is a gift might help train you, as it were. This all might be coming out of left field, probably out of this park.

I'm going to be volunteering with Odyssey Hospice here is St Louis with Belle, we'll be visiting at least 4 people a month. We have already been to one nursing home this month and it was actually fun. Carisa 4 I'm trying to coordinate with our St Louis NAMI to give a demonstration on service dogs for people with "mental illness" I'm just wondering but have any of you struggled with the term disability?? As in I'm disabled... or I am disabled but I don't feel like it all the time so does it count?

This has to be one of the best singles ads ever printed. It is reported to have been listed in the Atlanta Journal. SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I'm a very good girl who LOVES to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Call (404) 875-6420 and ask for Daisy, I'll be waiting.... Please scroll down.
Over 150 men found themselves talking to the Atlanta Humane Society. If you don't pass this along, a dog Will come out and pee on your computer.
