Posts: 28 04/12/07 19:44:56	Remove this ad Hey guys/gals been awhile. I don't know much about the VA system other than my own experience but have a question. I hope this is the right venue. I am 100%IUPT. I applied for vocrehab awhile ago. The way it was put to me in the beginning was if I wanted to go back to work fulltime they would let me and so I was approved. My doctor's visit today ended with the doc suggesting that maybe school and working was too much for me physically and emotionally. I am also doing my internship. I mentioned before that I have worked since I was 12 and it is all I know to do but I feel like I cannot anymore. I am fatigued all the time I think more depressed than ever but I am too ashamed to admit it. I feel that if they spent money I should do my side of the deal. Can they make me repay the monies they spent on my school? It has taken me some time to get to this point but my health is really suffering and my family means more to me than some stupid job. My bosses dont even have a clue. I take some heavy pain meds but have done a good job covering up. Anyone have any suggestions?...thxs ron

If you keep stuffing all this inside yourself, you may not be able to continue what you are doing. Talk with your Docs, your counselors at school, your VocRehab person, and when you have a plan, clue in your Bosses. They have a right to know. They are probably already aware that there is a problem and are feeling left out of the loop. We like to think that we are experts at hiding our problems. Most of the time, the people around us are waiting for us to ask for help. See if you can take some time off to assess your current situation. Cut back, modify, or whatever it takes until you are back in some sort of "normal" frame of mind. If you have to grind yourself into dust, you haven't gained anything. Find another way. It's there if you take the time to ask and look. I don't think the money thing is a big deal unless you keep concealing the issues until you crash. 57th AHC Kontum, RVN 1969

Senior VBNer Posts: 1012 04/12/07 22:55:51	Ron, I can't imagine the VA trying to recoup benefits it has already paid for a program which your doctor suggests that you should not be in. You don't owe anybody an apology for your service connected disabilities and if they preclude you from working I'd suggest that you accept that and find other fufilling things to do. I work four hours a week at the VA and four hours a week at a local hospital. There's no salary and they wouldn't hire someone to do what I do but I still feel like I'm making a contribution to society. Aloha, Ray
