Chest pain with no identifying factor would fall under the presumtive Gulf War Illness period. That is IF you were in the Gulf during the prescribed time
period. I assume you were since you are in the Gulf War Illness forum. I have chest pain along with many other pain spots/problems. I recieved 20% for GWI
because they can't find out what is causing the pain/pains.

Yes I was in the GW, chest pains for many years, sometime I go to bed not knowing if I will wake the next day. Negative Cardiac catheterization help a little
with the stress but I still worry about the pain.

Well, my husband had a massive heart attack on Christmas Eve 2006. He has since then been hospitalized with what they call atypical chest pain. They do not
know the cause of it, either. Maybe this is a good post for finding out what we can do!

I believe some of my chest pain comes from an inability to breath when I sleep. It is like someone punched me in the middle of my chest and back. It hurts for
a few days. Then there are muscle pains that run around my ribs. Not sure where those come from. I read once that severe sleep apnea can cause enlarged heart
problems and chest pain. I don't think "enlarged heart" is the correct term but it is close enough to get the idea across. Do you, or does he,
wake up gasping for air or wake up from irregular snoring? If so, sleep apnea could be part of the problem. I am not saying it is, it just could be. I think SA
is part of my problem but something else is also wrong. I am still seeing a MD to see if they can find anything out.

My husband also suffers from chest pain. He is 100% P&T for PTSD with o% for elbow injury and deferrment on Gulf War Illness(rashes, spiking blood
pressure, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue symptoms). For the last year or so has been having chest pain...been seeing doc but aren't finding anything
definitive EKG's ok,enzymes ok, nuclear stress test ok, Heart cath showed minor blockages of 20% and 30% and advised to make lifestyle changes due to this
and family history. Have advised docs that his father has chronic spastic angina. Still no real diagnosis and to be honest feel the docs and nurses at the VA
aren't taking it real seriously...though they did put him on nitro which he has used twice this week...on two different days with a trip to the VA Er an
hour away on the second day. (supposed to be a 2pm appt with cardiologoist but they called on our way up and advised given his heart cath outcome a month ago
there wasn't anything he could do...so go to the ER...which made the ER nurses really happy...listened to two of them complain the whole time about the VA
and how many patients they have and this one has chest pain, and so does this one...but he's had chest pain for 15 minutes and you don't see him
complaining) By that time hubby is like "that's it just take me home." I realize the VA is going through renovations and the ER is the catch all
for everything right now...and I understand their frustration...but it doesn't seem appropriate to be complaining about your job, using profanity when
doing so, and ridiculing those with chest pain in an open unit with ten beds where everyone including the patients can hear you. Hubby only has VA and
medicare due to his disability...and can't get into the primary care doc til end of October....med student said "don't ignore the chest pain...or
assume it is not serious...go to the ER...but the VA won't pay if it isn't the VA ER"...we live an hour away...and the trip to the ER this
week...by the time we jumped through their hoops and waited for the elevators (which took forever) the chest pain was almost gone and showed nothing on the
EKG. Looking for suggestions...I will take him to the local VA next time...but hubby is worried about the costs. Anyone run into this and have any
suggestions?

Yeah, I've had chest pain for the last couple years. I've never had any tests done, other than a chest xray when I did my GW registry exam, and didnt
get any feedback on that. I've smoked for 20 years though, so I just assume it's due to that.

I too have had chest pains, blood pressure that is all over the places at times and rashes. I have always assumed that the rashes has something to do with my
service, but like Rathelon, I have smoked off and on for almost 20 years and assumed the chest pain and blood pressure issue was related to that.
