Concurrent Receipt Amendment for the Senate Defense Authorization Full Concurrent Receipt for 50 % or more CRDP

Senator Harry Reid (NV), Senate majority Leader will offer an amendment to the Senate Defense Authorization bill (S. 3001) that accelerates the phase-in of concurrent receipt (Concurrent Retirement and Disability Payments) for those with 50 percent or more but less than 90 percent disability ratings from December 31, 2013 to September 30, 2008.

FRA supports legislation authorizing the immediate payment of concurrent receipt of full military retired pay and veterans' disability compensation for all disabled retirees, and urges you to contact your Senators to ask their support for the "Senator Reid amendment to improve concurrent receipt."

No. Anyone with 50% or greater will receive their full CRDP as long as you did your 20.

Don't know why, but the "but less than 90%" scares the heck outa me. I've seem them miss-word legislation in the past
and then take forever to correct it, if at all. OK call me a skeptical old fool! I'd feel better if it were worded "50% but less than 100 %
Would almost wet my pants if it read "concurrent receipt regardless of percentage including chapter 61 retiree's!!

IU's Regardless of %

It's my understanding that IU's regardless of percentage will be completely restored on Oct 1 2008. Is this not correct?
I've also been told that back pay for IU's will be paid after That date. Is this wishful thinking on my part and am
I in for yet another disappointment?

I could use the offset money to buy a tank of gas. When and if the backpay ever comes I could use that too. I'm sure the folks in Washington are
working non-stop looking for a way to wiggle out paying the backpay if they can.

I don't think he will offer it as a "Bill" but add on to the Defense Bill. Then it will go to committee. I expect it to pass, but with strings attached. Me I like the "Old Man" McCain, but I have a Son in the Army (July goes to Iraq) and personally don't want us there another 100 years. I understand we need the IRAQ Oil and I hope we have a long term plan.

If I had to guess full CR will be awarded, but on some BS like only 90% guys. Then next year 80 and 70 and so on. Roll it out as a BIG Win and go for our votes.

Heck I don't think 3 Nov 08 the 100% TDIU Folks will see the $$$$ yet. The track records of CRSC Payments says a lot....

I do not believe that any political issues are involved with most of this. All of these issues will be too late to effect the voting process, and that is the way it should be. On top of that on the 100% IU issue, it only affects about 133,000. On the 100% IU issue, that is a done deal. DFAS has reported to congress that "barring and problems" all backpay to the 100% IU folks will be in the 3 Nov 08 paycheck.

This was a lot easier of an issue to compute than the CRDP backpay is. All CRDP backpay had to be manually computed as a mathamatical algorythm could not be devised. On the 100% IU backpay to 1 Jan 05 a very simple mathamatical equation was involved. Anyone that is do can actaully figure it themselves by using their back pay statements.
