I met with a rep several weeks ago who said that in order to qualify for non service connected pension, a vet must make less than what is posted on the website, which I understand. But I also understood that if the vet has any income in the future, that will be subtracted from the pension received. The rep said that is not so.
Did I read this wrong:
That is from the VA website also. So my understanding is that the VA reduces the pension dollar for dollar based on your earnings (and spouse, if included) which is verified by the IRS and SSA. Please help me understand if I am wrong because that rep told me I was.
Also, how long would it take for the VA to verify any earnings after you file taxes ?
