I have a SSDI Check for $1020. a month which I give to my son whom is my caregiver. I receive XXX dollars VA Pension Check which is far below the full amount. I have out of pocket medical expenses totally approx $6, 000 a year for myself and my young disabled son. Whom is on my grant as a helpless child. At present time, I applied for full benefits for VA Pension and Housebound Monitary award. I currenly only receives $1.336.00 payment from VA. Some VA personnel at the VA Regional Office tell me I should be receiving full benefits from VA in the amount of $19710,00 per year. broken down into 12 equal monthly payments. I received a telephone called from a VA Person from Pension Mamagement Center in St Paul MN. He said to me, if you were in an official nursing home or old age home whether ran by the state or VA then, I would be given full benefits. Since, I am living in my son's house and he is my VA Appointed Caregiver, I would not be given full VA Pension benefits even though I was given housebound status, too. Is this correct ? Just because I am not in an official nursing home. Can they do this legally ?
