> Hi my name is Kevin cole anv200845@.. . I couldn´t agree with
> you more. Veterans have been neglected for generations and the
> polititians think that we are stupid enough to fall for their photo
> ops and their words. Me and a few freinds are trying to organize
> veterans to pressure polititians to finally do the right thing. The
> only thing they understand is votes! Their are 26,400,000 veterans
in
> America. We should have a stronger voice than we have had. Their
is a
> report in front of the Senates Veterans Affairs Committee by the
> Veterans Disability Commission. A commission set up by congress in
> 2004 to study veterans benefits. After 2 1/2 years they presented
> their report on Oct. 4, 2007. They made 113 recommendations. One of
> the thing´s that they reported is that the disability rating system
> has not been updated since 1945. that´s 62 years! Another is that
> disability payment rates have not been increased in 62 years! They
> recommend an IMMEDIATE 25% increase in the compensation rate and
> IMMEDIATE extra payments to make up for congress not considering
> quality of life issues when fixing payment rates. For them to
> reccommend a 25% increase tells us that we have been neglected for
> many years.
> The other problem is that when they give a COLA increase each year
> they give the core cost of living. The core is minus the rising
cost
> of energy and food? We don´t have to pay for energy and food? Last
> year the cost of living increased over 8%. Disabled veterans
received
> 2.3% increase. Every year disabled veterans get poorer and poorer.
> Civilian federal employees received a 3.5% increase? We are
> definately being neglected and taken for granted. They don´t care
> about us. If you want to help please contact me.
> God Bless Our Veterans.

> Hi Kevin,Hope this gets sent-can not find the place to reply on
this page.I feel the same way.I am 100%disabled, survive on less than
$30,000.a year while my peers make 3 to 6 times that much and
yes, nobody (especially politicians) has any use for used up,sick
soldiers.I beleive the main problem is Public Awareness.DAV, the
largest Veterans organization, is working against the VET.-the way
one would cut small branches off a tree and claim "see,I'm killing
the tree".They want to preserve their position and keep receiving
the almost $170,000,000. in revenues each year.Someone good with
computers might write a good letter-asking people to write their
congressmen that they will NOT support any candidate for any office-
that does not PUBLICLY ADDRESS the plight of the Disabled Veteran in
America. Then bulk e-mail the letter to millions of people.nick
