In my award letter received June 24, 2013 the following statement is confusing to me and I am not sure if I am doing what is requested, so any advice will be appreciated.
"You may be entitled to a higher evaluation for your paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Please send us documentation that shows atrial fibrillation by electrocardiogram or Holter monitor so we can determine if a higher evaluation is warranted."
Award: 90% cumulative
Atrial fibrillation with implantable cardiac pacemaker associated with diabetes mellitus type 2 with hypertension: 10% -100%-10%
Diabetes mellitus type 2 with hypertension: 40%
Chronic renal insufficiency associated with DM 2 with Hypertension: 60%
Left lower extremity diabetic neuropathy associated with DM type 2 with hypertension: 10%
Right lower extremity diabetic neuropathy associated with DM type 2 with Hypertension: 10%
On the 15th of August I submitted a Holter report. the Report showed 48 hours of constant AFIB. My heart also stopped for up to 4 seconds. I am planning on submitting a CAR ECHOCARDIOGRAM report which shows Mitral valve regurgitation, mitral sclerosis and constant AFIB.
What format is best to submit this documentation. I send in the Holter report as a request for an increase, but is that correct? Is there another format since these documents are submitted as a suggestion from the VA rater.
Any help is very much appreciated.
