Well, I guess my next question would be how are the drugs affecting your duty? For example, I was on convalescent leave for an entire year while on narcotics. It wasn't until after that year that they finally wised up and decided that it was probably best to medically board me because the prescriptions they were "druging me up with" were leaving me incapable of returning to duty.

As stated, you are going to have to consult with your doctor and let them know your convictions. If you are not able to function and carry on with the mission because your disability limits you in some way, you have to discuss that with them. If the prescriptions are affecting you negatively in anyway, you have to inform your doc. Considering you stated they know you are not fit to serve, I am sure they have an idea that you are restricted in some way.

I know you want to give up and say "screw the benefits", but I cannot tell you enough how much you'll regret those words later on, especially if your condition worsens later on in time. You have to think about your family and your future, not only about right now.

Also, keep in mind there may be other options besides just exclusively exiting the military. You haven't disclosed how bad your ailments are (nor do you have to), but perhaps there are ways for you to cross train into a less stressful field or remain on a profile. The only way to find out what avenues to take is to be patient and continue to consult with a doctor about what to do. If you don't like his/her advice, request to see another doctor for another opinion. If that doesn't work, then I guess the next step would be to utilize your chain of command and report your convictions, but I would exhaust everything else first.
