Re: Linking PTSD --> Alcohol Abuse --> Alcoholism --> TBI (reply)
I don't think so.  You were driving under the influence and apparently riding a bicycle under the influence and both constitute willful misconduct.  Even someone who drinks a lot, knows it is illegal to drive drunk.  When you make the...

Re: retro pay for an increase (reply)
If the symptoms that were found in March were worse than the symptoms found in the original claim and are responsible for the increase in compensation, then the claim date would be from the date the symptoms became worse (March, 2015)....

Re: To all you Vietnam Vets (reply)
Sometimes, we forget too soon as to why a lot of VN vets did not wear their uniforms when home on leave from VN or even when they went outside their assigned bases.  Why do VN vets to this day remember how they felt when they returned...

Re: Middle East about to blow. (reply)
The good news is that we are now producing a lot of oil and have a lot more that we can pump (if the government would get out of their way).  Gene, one thing about hybrids is that to run on electricity you need to plug in the car...

Re: Which is greater threat to U.S., ISIS or Russia? (reply)
ISIS because, (remember what life was like before 911?)  if ISIS hits us as hard as we were hit on 911, the government will again use security to take some basic rights away.  Right now, the NSA has become more like the old KGB when it...

Re: Advice please (reply)
squittard, Unlike the VA, age does impact SS decisions.  55 and over lowers the hurdles for SSDI, so your situation makes perfect sense.

Re: applied for I.U. claim. (reply)
It sounds like you should be rated higher for PTSD (if you received SSDI due to that disability).  Take an inventory of your PTSD symptoms and compare them to the MH disability criteria (listed in the first thread in the PTSD section)....

Re: family letters in support of appeal (reply)
In order to get approved for IU, you will have to show that you are unemployable. Not just unable to perform your current job but unemployable for any job.  You are going to need a doctor to render an opinion that you are unemployable as...

Re: applied for I.U. claim. (reply)
Not really.  It depends on whether or not a doctor will render an opinion that your SC conditions prevent you from working.  The 50% PTSD (if accurate) would not prevent you from working.  All the other ailments are minor to moderate...

Re: family letters in support of appeal (reply)
The family can discuss how you act (behave) but only a doctor can evaluate your symptoms and render an opinion concerning the symptoms.  What do you hope to accomplish with the family buddy letters with your appeal?

Re: Are Group meetings mandatory for my benefits? (reply)
Group meeting (or any treatment for that matter) is NOT (edit-my error) mandatory, however, if you want to learn to live as fully as possible with PTSD, you should consider some sort of therapy (JMHO). No, they won't take away your...

Re: IU denied percentage lowered (reply)
If you have access to a private doctor, you could get one to fill out a DBQ for each of the claimed disabilities. Secondly, you could post the doctor's C&P notes on PTSD here and we could give some thoughts on appealing the decision...

Re: PC Surgery Question (reply)

Re: 19 years and counting (reply)
Did the VA base the reduction on a C&P that measured your Range of Motion (which is the criteria for a back rating)?  If they measured your ROM as improved after the surgery, and no longer meeting the 40% criteria, then you need to...
