How does DFAS calculate Chapter 61 Retired Pay?
Lets say your 30% Disabled at 12 years of service, E-5.
My simple math says E-5 base pay is $3012.90, 30% of that = $903.87
The other formula of 2.5% times years service= $903.87
wow...they're the same.
But DFAS pays $799 a month. When I called to ask why they said base pay is $2233.87 for an E-5 for their formula. What?? E-5 Base pay wasn't that low since 2003. I held E-5 for 5 years before the TDRL Retirement in 2005.....their math is FUBAR.
What am I figurin' out wrong here?
