Posts: 3501 Feb 1 11 12:55 PM	Go to the beginning of the PTSD section and scroll through the PTSD post at the beginning that explains the process (it has several pages) until you get to the rating criteria. GAF is not considered in the rating but limitations on ability to work, and ability to function in society are. The ratings are 10, 30, 50, 70, and 100%. You can get a pretty good idea of where you fall by comparing your identified (by your therepist or C&P doc) issues with those listed in the rating. Hope this helps. Posts: 210 Feb 1 11 3:27 PM	Keep in mind, no guarantee your GAF will conform to your rating. Compare the numbers listed where BROVET sent you to the rating criteria, it should give you a WAG though. For instance, I believe a GAF of 71-80 in the PTSD forum reads almost exactly to the 10% rating guideline, but that doesn't always translate. I bet a GAF in the 70s almost always yields a non-compensable rating. Edited 2 times by 09pens Feb 1 11 3:37 PM.

Posts: 123 Feb 1 11 5:43 PM	I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor here in FL, and the only GAF score is located in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders IV - Text Revsion (DSM IV-TR). Copy and paste this link http://facstaff.gpc.edu/~bbrown/psyc2621/ch3/gaf.htm If you look at the rating criteria for PTSD, the psych doctor should be mentioning the words the are highlighted on the linked page. That may give some insight into how the score translates to the rating. But, the GAF score is a one time deal ( a snap shot of your condition that day, and at that time). It is not a very good indicator of overall functioning because it subjective and can change from hour to hour, so it is better to look at what the physician wrote. The physician would have answered very specific questions about the disorder, and that is really what matters (at least to me).
