This guy is totally determined to destroy the foundation of this country...our very roots are planted in God...hence, "one nation, Under GOD"! If he were to get into the White House, I believe he would remove any reference to God from every visible surface in DC! Which is every government building in the city! He's a genuine Socialist...remember the United Soviet Socialist Republic...the USSR? Communists! They said they would destroy the USA from within (the Communist Manifesto) and they are still working diligently to do that and they are gaining ground every day! Well, that's my "soap box" for the day!! Hope you all have a great Independence Day and God Bless the USA!!! Wayne As I was listening to a news program last night, I watched in horror as Barack Obama made the statement with pride. . ."we are no longer a Christian nation; we are now a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, . . . As with so many other statements I've heard him (and his wife) make, I never thought I'd see the day that I'd hear something like that from a presidential candidate in this nation. To think our forefathers fought and died for the right for our nation to be a Christian nation--and to have this man say with pride that we are no longer that. How far this nation has come from what our founding fathers intended it to be. I hope that each of you will do what I'm doing now--send your concerns, written simply and sincerely, to the Christians on your email list. With God's help, and He is still in control of this nation and all else, we can show this man and the world in November that we are, indeed, still a Christian nation! Please pray for our nation!

But the majority of Americans are Christians of some sort. Our Founding Fathers were pretty much a religous group and it showed in our Declaration of Independence. Obama wants to relegate the majority of American's religous beliefs into a catch-all jumble to marginalize the basic tenets of those beliefs. What then? If your Church is against homosexuality, would it be charged with a hate crime? I see it as a step toward neutralizing any input a religous group may have that goes against the ''good of the People.''

He based his decision on the false premise that using the words "under God" somehow violates school children's right to be "free from a coercive requirement to affirm God." Third, this judge is simply used "raw judicial power" to make up rights that just don't exist. To the contrary, the original intent of our Founding Fathers was clear. This is and always should be a Christian nation because true Christian principles protect everyone's rights, especially the right to disagree. It all comes back to whether or not the guiding governing principles of this nation are based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In 1811 a case (People vs. Ruggles) came to the Court which dealt with a man who had gone into a fit of profanity. It was not a moment of anger or temporary loss of control, for he had taken the time to write it out and distribute it. It maliciously and capriciously attacked Jesus Christ in the vilest of terms. The Court explained the problems with his writings: an attack on Jesus Christ was an attack on Christianity; and an attack on Christianity was an attack on the foundation of the country; therefore, an attack on Jesus Christ was an equivalent to an attack on the country! "christian's" are not the only ones with principles or morals. They are not the only ones with values. Christinity is simply another of many religions in the country and this world. In my 65+ years, I have seen damned few actually living by what Christ preached. Now, as to what Obama is quoted as saying (though I have not seen a source for the actual statement) I think he is 100% correct. We cannot judge Islam by the acts of a few radical extremist anymore than we can judge Christianity by the acts of the Catholics of Siagon in 1962. (or more pointedly, the Spanish Inquisition) or the Jesuits in early America, or the Jews when Christ was crucified. All cultures, all religions, all ideologies, and all theologies have their extremist. That does not mean the whol barrel is bad.

Although I see some larger threats to the world, I do not deny that Islamic extremism is indeed a very large threat. However, I do not see Islam in itself as a threat. If, and I question the figure's accuracy, there is 10% of Islam that are fanatics, then that can and should be dealt with. But, not by invading soverign nations with no justification or tweaked intelligence. We cannot, nor should we attempt, to convert or destroy over a billion people. We have to find a means to co-exist.

Actually, I believe the worldwide Muslim/Islam number is about 1.5 billion, and 1.8-2.0 billion Christians, depending on source. Ideally, they (all Islam) would police themselves and rid themselves of the extremists. blue, Bush and Cheney may very well be a threat, but they're history in 6 months: Islamic Extremism is going to be with us a long time, how long will probably depend on what the next mature generation on both sides decide to do about it.

Obama said.."We are no longer a Christian nation..." Anybody recongnize the falicy here...first to no longer be a Christian nation you have to first be a Christian nation...establishing a constitutional form of government and laws on foundation of moral principles, that transcend all religions, does not and has not ever made this country a Christian nation. Obama's remarks were inflamatory and derogatory...they were demeaning to Christians (and since when does he have the authority to speak for all Christians) as if Christians have suddenly became the big bogeyman. Obama is trying to project himself as an homogenous, pasturized, grade A, all purpose religious entity...You name a religion and I'll be he can name an ancestor or close personal friend who practices that faith...because Obama is all aware, compassionate, tolerant, and fully understands the particulars and deep commitments involved in every faith...yeah right! So if anyone can show me the documentation (must be legal, legitimate and authentic document) that shows that on a given date this country became a Christian nation (for starters would have be dated after the Declaration of Independence and constitution...where it says the United States is a Christian nation). Being a God fearing nation, or being a nation under god does not specifically make this nation a christian nation because there are all kinds of Gods...the Christian faith does not have a patent on God. Furthermore, what Obama seems to be asserting is that we should be a nation under some sort of religious control...a nation under ALL Gods...which is again wrong...this goes to his recent comments about the government employing religious organizations to accomplish government tasks and fulfill government responsibilities...and if you don't get what is wrong with that idea...we are all in big, big, trouble.
