Hi I had my hearing today at the Veterans Administration ya in RI. I was nervous. It was just my DAV rep, me and the judge for Washington D.C. I have
been denied 4 times for depression and anxiety disorder, which has change to Bipolar disorder since I have getting treatment at the Veterans Hospital in 1999.
The good new for now is my case got and extension for another sixty days. The judge want evidents from my current psych doctor (a nexus) and for me to have
evaluation. The one evaluation that I never had while I was in the military for a psychiatric condition, cause the psychologist did want to bother with me.
I got one of those wonderful P.D NOS discharges 5/1996. Personality Disorder not otherwise specified. What it means is you have a condition, but it we
don't have of information to determine if there are any other mental health problems. So I will be evaluated for depression, aniexty and some p.d this
time. So when you have to go to a hearing do your research and write down what happen that lead up to any mental or physical problems. It may help you get
your claim extended or approved.
Here is some info about my case. I was only offer one medication to take prozac. In 1996 I was afraid to take Prozac because of all of the negative media feedback. So the psychologist never informed me about other anti-depressant that I could take for my depression. I received counseling from a psychologist for 3 months, until I was discharge in May of 1996. During that time my depression got worse and I confided in another soldier that I was suicidal. The soldier went to the chain of commend. To resolve my problem, they had two soldiers watch me during the night , conducting 15 minute room checks and part of the day. They never had anyone take to the clinic or go to the hospital for a complete evaluation. So naturally my discharge proceeding sped up. The whole atmosphere change and some people did not want to bother with me, even the psychologist. Those are some of the details of my case. So how long does it take to get a final decision? Does my case look okay? I explained this stuff to the judge beside answering his questions about the depression and aniexty. I have been fighting this claim since the early 2000. I thought this might help someone
