That is a cost of $444,444.00 per terrorist.
Damn expensive war.
Oh well, I'm sure that will help win the hearts and minds of those we are there to "save". Bombing them back into the stone age worked so well in Vietnam.

We've gone in, usually up in Cambodia where the Shianook trail came through into the Fishhook border area, on bomb damage basement missions with an Air-Cav cobra and loach...and been right there hovering at ground level within 4 or 5 minutes of an Arc Light. We couldn't even see the B-52's that ejaculated them, but man we could smell the raw earth and clearly see the destruction. An awesome sight, from above, and even more so right in the middle of it's aftermath. You only have a short time for the assessment, as all of the tons and tons of earth that has been pulverized, turned into dust, and is billowing up into outer space, well, it's heavier parts quickly start settlin' back down to earth and in short order you can't see a damn thing. If we didn't get there right after the last concussion we may not be able to see what happened. I reckon we were "storm chasers" of a sort. Only we had a box grease penciled onto our map with its side's corners made up of 4 8 digit grip co-ordinates. We also had a time for the show, and we listened on the emergency freq for the high flier guy to calmly advise everyone in the vicinity of those 4 8 digit grid co-ordinates to please be advised that BAD JUJU IS ON ITS WAY.
Bad juju was right...you could feel every individual whoomp from those bombs as we raced towards where they fell. Their sounds weaved into and around each other until it turned into this wild disturbing cacophony that pounded your rib cage and head and body. It felt like it was getting a sonic massage or something. All this as you are flying as fast as you can into the center of the devils delight...yummy. Bodies turned into jello, NVA weaving around with blood profusely bubbling out of the sockets that has contained their eyes, from their ears, mouths, noses...who knows the other two orifices, I tells ya. And, what always amazed me the most was the huge fresh swimming pools bomb craters...I used to exclaim to the crew, "Lord Gawd Billy Bob, would you jes lookey at all them there beautiful swimming pools them high fliers just made?"
Crazy thing is....I was part of a 3 ship Air Cav operation. I was supposed to be a mile up in the sky making tight left hand circles as I watched the white tops of the rotors of the scout pilot and his Oscar's Loach. I wasn't supposed to be on the ground. Opps!!!! Twice I had to come down from altitude with a Cobra on my tail to pick up the loach crew. They were shot down by NVA. That is the only reason I saw the carnage up so close.

Bombing them back into the stone age worked so well in Vietnam. That's an "estimated" body count. Perhaps the question is: Was the response proportional and appropriate to the threat? "Estimated" 36 KIAs wouldn't seem to say that.
