Does anyone know if it's possible to protect my VA disability and Military disability retirement pay in divorce? My wife is insistent on a divorce for the dumbest of reasons & I can't stop her. I collect both military disability pay and VA disability pay. She works & doesn't need my disability pay; but I'm sure she won't decline it either. At the moment, she doesn't know I'm collecting either one. But I think she'll find out because I assume I'll have to disclose all sources of income at some point. After reading about 200 posts and web site, I'm convinced the disability pay will be divided up; even though there was supposed to be some protections. In summary, my wife doesn't yet know about my disability pay. Is there any way of protecting the retirement disability & VA disability pay? Or just assume I have to hand over 50%? Thanks.
