Wife and Medicare

Hi all
My wife is 50 years old and receives ChampVA and has worked parttime for only the past three years paying into social security and medicare. Will she be eligible for medicare when 62 years old or will she stay on ChampVA for life? If she does not qualify for medicare will she be able to remain on ChampVA until the end? thanx Ken

Medications Not Requested

I have an old Army buddie who is 40 % and as such has a co-pay for medication...He asked me the following question:

How do you return medications you did not request? I have multivitamins that I did not request and they charge a $24 co-pay. I can buy the same brand at Wal Mart for $6. How do you give them back?

Folks,

Let's keep this non-political ok? For those that do not know Medicare and Tricare are tied together. The issue was a law that went into effect on 1 Jul 08 which reduced the payments to Dr's for both Medicare and Tricare. It could have cost beneficiaries the ability to use their current Dr as many were going to completely drop both programs.

Many groups have been lobbying long and hard on this one, including all of the Vet's orgs.

Would like the VA be my primary care provider

I am a Group/Priority 6 at the VA "Compensable 0% service-connected veterans" and I wish that my VA here to become my primary care facility. I have private insurance and I have been told that they would/could use this for my treatments at the VA. I would prefer this as I would rather see the VA get this money than the private sector. In calling the VA here I do not get any answer that makes much sense, Soooooooo

Is this a feasible option? If so how would I go about this?...

I am a disabled veteran. I was granted 70% IU, so my health benefits are covered. We have had my wife and daughter on her works health coverage for the last 1 1/2 years but she will be out of work after this summer. My VA benefits and SSDI together are too much money to qualify for any low income health care through the State of Maine. Our options are Cobra, or other expensive avenues. Can anyone point me in the right direction? My VA compensation is going to be reviewed in the future,...

Tricare or ChampVA

I was permanently retired from the Army due to disability back in 1970. Since then, my family and I have been eligible for Tricare.

I was just awarded 100% permanent and total and I am now eligible for ChampVA.

Should I take the ChampVa coverage? What would be the pros and cons of switching?

Letter from Regional Office concerning additional Insurance

I received a letter from the VA Regional Office asking if I had any additional Insurance. All I have is Medicare. They wanted a copy of my Medicare card. If VA can't bill Medicare, then why do they need a copy of my Medicare card? Why do they care if I have Medicare?

I just received my disability claim on June 25th, I have 30% disability. I plan to sign up for VA Medical benefits and my question is .... Can my wife get the same medical benefits? Any input would be appreciated.

Hi, I am a 62 soon to be 63 year old vet. I get my health care from the VA. My question is what happens when I turn 65 with regard to medicare. I don't know how the two work together. Will I still need suplemental ins. ect.

The way they talk about how social security and the va operate now as something new and improved in the medical files department I think.I can't exactly remember what it is they say but it sounds as though social security can read your va medical records when ever they see a need.Is this the case,anyone know?And could that prevent the need for you to be called into social security for a periodical exam to restablished your claim?

how to change doctors

Hi everybody.
I'm new here so I'm sorry if the answer is somewhere already. I haven't been able to find it.
Long story short, I'm new to the VA healthcare system and have only had two appointments with my primary care doctor. I'm not very happy with him though. Can someone please tell me how to go about changing doctors or even clinics within the same hospital?

On June 2nd I had my first appointment with a new Primary Care Provider. I received a thorough exam and answered a lot of questions. Prescriptions were renewed and I got two prescriptions for medications not in the VA formulary faxed to the Tricare for Life mail order pharmacy.

I also asked for two referrals, one to optometry and the other to pain management. I had the pain management appointment yesterday, June 25th and will have to optometry appointment on June 30th.

I recently went to a C & P exam for one thing. I have a GAF of 50 and GAF of 50. Since I only went for PTSD why did I get a second GAF for depression. Is this a good thing? I do not know anything about the VA SC ratings system. Also how long is the wait, and how much rating you think I will receive if any?
