Does anyone have any experience with the VA hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo.? I have previously used the Harry S. Truman VAMC in Columbia, Mo. but now live closer to Poplar Bluff. If you can tell me anything about the Poplar Bluff VAMC I would appreciate it.

I have been making many 75 mile round trips to the VA for visits. Can I claim anything for mileage. I also have had 3 C&P
exams. I am only 20% and I think I saw you had to be 50% or over to file for benefits. Any help would be appreciated. HB

If a vet who's wife has Champ Va gets divorced - does that wife remained covered by Champ Va until Medicare or death kicks in? An if the Vet remarries would the "new wife" be covered under Champ Va?

This question came up in my group this past week -- no one knew the answer. Thank you !

Hi group,

I am a 10% SC veteran having served in the AF 4 years, 68 - 72. I go to the VA hospital clinic 2 times a year for check-ups and get my medications there. I am having a hearing problem which needs to be addressed (tinnitus and hearing loss). My 10% is for a back injury, not for hearing loss (although I do believe working on the flightline contributed to my hearing problem). Does anyone know if the VA can help with my hearing problem for testing and hearing aids if deemed...

CPAP VA Treatment

I have been using a CPAP supplied by civilian doctor and insurance. I now use the VA for all my medical as I am now TDIU. With the VA, do they usually give you a machine with tracking ability/memory?(my current machine has none) And you would then visit the Pulmonary? department periodically. I asked my PCP and he said if I was sleeping ok not to worry. This doesn't sound very professional, I would think a visit with the Specialist annually wouldn't break the bank.

Hi everyone...

I have a combined rating of 80% (50% BiPolar, 40% Degenerative Disc Disease, 10% for each hand/carpal tunnel, and 0% for both hypertension and pes planus).

I was recently granted 100% rating for IU which inclues Basic Eligibility to Dependants' Educational Assistance.

However I have a future date set of a C&P Exam (June 2011) because the VA feels my Bipolar (50%) and Degenerative Disc Disease (40%) may get better...yet my VA primary...

Fee basis while still insured?

I recently received all my documents to start fee basis treatment with my OB. However, I am currently insured by my work's insurance plan. This insurance coverage will end very soon as I am losing my job.

I am wondering if I can submit my fee basis paperwork to my doctor now, or if I need to wait until my current insurance coverage expires. Can anyone help?

How can a person that is on 50% S/C get a fee basis card?

We have a local contract clinic, but they will not take any "walk-in" patients, they don't handle emergencies, essentially they only do routine appointments. The closest VA Hospital is 69 miles away, so they are not exactly feasible for an emergency.

What happens if I do have an emergency? I really can't see driving to the VA Hospital if i have a heart attack, or cut my foot off with my riding...

I am hoping this is the correct area to get an answer to a question. When I filed my claim (July 2009) with VA I also filled out a 10-10EZ form and they came back with a Priority 7c. Since then, I have been through my C&P exam and was rated with 40% SC. My question is this--do I need to resubmit the 10-10EZ form with my updated disability? In reviewing the information VA sent I know my Priority group will change to Priority group 2 vice 7c.

My brother-in-law has just been rated as 100% Unemployable. His wife and he has been trying get signed up for her to use champva, but they get the run around that her husband is not permanent 100% due to diabetes. So, they go back to the VA hospital and are told again and again that he is rated permanent 100%. Champva tells them that the info they receive says that he is not permanent. What avenue do they have left? Thanks for any help.

My husband suffered a broken hip. Just received notice from United that medicare paid $10,884 on a $ 66,934 hospital bill. United says since they are secondary payer, their pymt. is reduced by the amt. of the medicare pymt.
