Since this question is being discussed in some other topic threads I thought it might be easier to track IHD retro pay specific info if it had it's own thread. For my own part I'll reiterate my experience so far which was put forth in my VRO Snafu thread.

I have a friend that I am trying to help with his initial claim.

He has heart trouble, diabetes, kidney disease and hearing loss. He was in the Air force in VN as a member of a ground control radar group. He was in VN in 1963-64 and was all over I corps.

My question is: on one web site it states that the military conducted agent orange from 1965 to 1972. One an other site it states that it started in 1961. How I find out the real dates. He states that he handled...

I have a buddy that served in the Navy during the Nam War. His ship supplied fire support. He now has diabetes from the effects of AO. The DAV officer is telling him he has NO chance of receiving any help of benefits from the V.A. What can he do to get the V.A. on his side?

I filed a claim on 10/22/09 for IHD secondary to AO. I filed the claim in the same building that the VRO is in. Today, 10/31/09, I get the big white envelope in the mail. Great I think, things are moving along swiftly. Wrong.
It's a notice of action alright, standard request for any further documentation on my claim etc. BUT it is on a claim I made back in '05 for MI secondary to PTSD. (which was denied in '06). Instead of opening the new claim the VRO office has reopened...

After the VA added IHD to agent orange presumptive list. I went back and looked at my denial decisions from 2003 and saw that I had claimed heart disease because of some chest apin I was having at the time. The VA after thier C&P then denied me all the way through appeal. When I had my heart attack in 2005 they finally granted me heart disease secondary to DM2.

I called the VA on Oct.19th and asked if I could ask for an earlier effective date? Today in the mail I received the...

Out at the local grocery store and bumped into and old associate and her husband. He is a retired Colonel Air Force and of course we got to talkin about being in Nam and all that.

I then asked him if he had any medical issues and he said not really except for the Heart attack in 05. I asked him if he had heard that the VA had linked IHD to Agent Orange and he said no. Gave him the link to here and told him to drop in and read a few posts.

I was surprised to in the mail was the big brown envelope I have been granted service connection for prostate cancer ,as a residual of exposure to herbicides
Also entitlement to a rating of 40 percent, but no more , for spondyloysis is granted subject to the law and regulations governing the award of monetary benefits . [ NOT SURE WHAT THAT MEANS ] at least it good news

IMHO, It looks like if you have coronary artery disease,atherosclerosis, which is a cause of ishemic cardiomyopathy, or just ishemic heart disease., and you served in Vietnam ,the VA says that it is an Agent Orange Presumptive.The other two presumptives are Hairy -cell leukemia. and Parkinson's disease.
