Need help for DM2 rating....Newbie

Hi Fellow Veterans,

I have been lurking in the shadows for months reading the different post. This happened when a friend told me I might be able to get help for my DM 2 and complications. I can prove boots on ground and was curious if I might get a better idea of what I might expect for help from the VA. I was an air traffic controller stationed at Phu Cat AFB, RVN. I have the following problems, all pointed out in a letter from my personal doctor.

I have a few questions

I am sc for DM II. Have seen a primary care doc and a neurologist. Neuro doc dx me with pn both hands and feet, primary doc agrees. Both of them used pin prick tests. I have an EMG early next month. I also have some other appts for sc issues (PTSD, Reflux, IBS).
Questions:

Should I file for the PN now or wait until results of EMG?
Is it possible the EMG will not show np, thus reversing the DX?
Should I wiat until all DX's are...

Neuropathy of feet & hands

I have submitted a claim for neuropathy and retinopathy. The retinopathy shouldn't be a problem as I have had cataracts removed and 5~6 laser surgeries on both eyes by both a civiian and the VA. I have been requested to provide proof of the neuropathy and not sure actually what is proof. Recently I injured my left foot and it got infected. The doctor said that it was from my DMII. insulin pump

I have been on the pump for over 10 Yrs, my A1c range from 6.8 to 7.4, I was at the Va today and was told if I didn't adhere to there standards as far as carb counting and using the bolus wizard they where going to take the pump away, well me and the nurse got into a big argument, upset the shit out of me I'm a 100% service connected you guys or gals ever here of such shit?

Metformin and DM2

Just curious, has anyone been able to obtain Metformin ER ( extended release) through the VA. It is more effective in lowering blood glucose and has fewer gastric complications. Does anyone know if the extended release version of Metformin is in the VA formulary?

Increase for PN

I am rated 20% for PN in each foot. My last increase was July of 08 from mild to moderate. After the increase the VA therapist told me I had foot drop when I told him my feet feel like they flop when I walk. I was issued a cane and shoe inserts. The VA podiatrist told me I have the beginning of severe neuropathy in my feet as my toes are numb. My question is, does this warrant filing for an increase for severe PN in the feet? I am an in-country Vietnam Veteran Denied benfits because VA says I have type 1 Diabetes my Doctors(Family MD, 2 Ophthalmologists and Endocrinologist Diabetes specialist) have written letters stating I have type 2. First thanks for the insight, I'm sure you'll give. I was just put on metformin on Friday for diabetes. For years I've been in the 100-115 range on my glusose screenings and was told I was borderline diabetic. It's jumped to 125, not really high, but it's enough to be on the metformin. "Borderline" that's like being almost pregnant. I retired in 2007 and was not a diabetic upon retirement, but had the numbers throughout my AF career like I said...

I saw my PCP back in Jan 2009. He told me at that time he was leaving the VA and would not be my PCP anymore. I have been waiting for the VA to assign another PCP to me but I have heard nothing yet. I am almost out of my meds and was wondering if I should start to worry. I did call a couple months ago and they told me they would contact me and let me know. Still waiting.

Presumptive DMII

Should I ignore the reply given to me today by a VA rep? I was attempting to verify advice given to me on this site. I was told that my effective claim date would be adjusted in retro for twelve months if I was diagnosed prior to the presumptive date for DMII.

I posed this question: "It is my understanding that DMII was added to the list of presumptions in July 2001. If I prove a diagnosis of DMII prior to July 2001, will I receive retro compensation for twelve months prior...

Any one know any way to prove boots on ground during Frequent Wind? Seems nothing was written down they jsut sent yo were they needed you at the time!
