Diabetes Question

I recently was diagnosed with DM11. Private doctor put me on Metformin and the diagnosis was confirmed by VA doctor who continued me on the Metformin and sent me through the Dietary Nurse, classes and through the Visual.

In the past I have been diagnosed with Low Grade Glaucoma by private Optomologist and also have High Blood pressure controlled by medication. I am currently 100% P&T with PTSD, Tinnitis and Hearing Loss. Vietnam Vet from 1966-1967.

Should I file now...

Dry crack feet

For the last several years, I have had really dry feet that end up cracking and hurting like hell. I started using Gold Bond foot cream and it has made a real difference. My doctor told me that alot of people who have diabetes have really dry feet. Hope this helps. I have tried more than an dozen difference creams and Gold Bond is the best.

Hi all,

I broke my fifth metatarsal, a Jones fracture, not all the way through but in a bad location. I was sent home with Velcro boot cast and crutches with orders of NO weight on injured foot. I went for another x-ray after five weeks, no visible healing, so same instructions for five more weeks. I go back July 14 for another x-ray and if no healing, probably surgery scheduling to repair break with a screw. After eight weeks with two more to go on crutches I am about worn...

One of the people I work with called the VA to ask about filing a claim for diabetes. They told him he was over in Nam too early to file a claim. Is there a certain date that has to be met before you are eligible?

regulation of activity "avoid strenuous occupational or recreational activities".
5 doctors, couldn't get one to say I needed to do this. Response from all of them was the same "you can do everything anyone else can do if you plan for it properly".
The VA really needs to change how this is worded to something like "Requires preparation in order to perform strenuous activities beyond that of the average person".

My private diabetes doctor said my diabetes "without a doubt" started in service and based that on a review of my service records with high blood gucose readings. I was not diagnosed within the one year presumptive period (for me 27 months after service) and not a Vietnam Veteran for the Agent Orange connection. Therefore, I am trying to establish direct connection. Should that be sufficient to establish a nexus for a diabetes rating?
