i have a question, i was burnend on board a ship under way in 87, pretty bad , i have a claim for dis/comp (ptsd) keep getting letter from the va aplogizing for the delay. the just found my record with my stressor well documented..................whats next?

I have an injured back and have a permanent profile in the national guard from running and to do the 2.5 mile walk in 36 minn or less instead.
Did the walk in 34 minn but my back went into complete spasms and went to emergency room. The doctor said my current prescribed meds was not strong enough to control the spasms and put me on hydrocodone. I know so many of you have been in this "world", but the copy of my hubby's C&P report came today and we've (of course) been going over it with a fine-toothed comb, trying to figure out what everything means. The FAQ helps a lot, but some of the phrases are still a bit perplexing...

(1) What does "Affect was blunted." mean?
(2) What does "free of paraphasias" mean? (I'm guessing that's a good thing??)

Ok - Just wanted to say again (I know I'm probably starting to sound like a broken record) how thankful I am for all of you. But, today, I have a new reason to say that...

My hubby called tonight and I told him that we'd received the copies, etc., of his C&P reports. I debated even telling him, because I knew he'd want me to read them to him, etc., and last week was SO bad after the PTSD C&P. I just didn't want to bring everything up in his mind again....

Ok - so my hubby's patient advocate (thankfully, a SUPER nice guy) talk to the head of Rehab (who is in charge of TBI stuff at our VAMC) and they decided a Neuro-Psychologist was the best course of action to determine where PTSD ends and TBI begins. Anyone with experience, thoughts, etc., on that?? I don't even know what a Neuro-Psychologist is...

I was on trazanone for a year gained 70 lbs and became morbidly obese. developed Diabetes and felt like I needed to sleep all day. Doctor prescribed 400 mg a day and the max of 600mg. Went to a civilian shrinkoroony and he pulled me off this crap. It seems there are quite a bit of problems with this stuff and Dr.'s are over prescribing this stuff and prescribing it for Bi-polar and other mental problems which have not been approved. You could have heart attacks and strokes from this stuff...

For at least the last 6-7 days i have lost entire blocks of time in the course of a day that it's starting to really frighten me and in order for me to REMEMBER "blocks of time" i have to sit down( literally) and think about where did i go,how did i get there and keeping track of my thoughts and monitoring my behavior(s)

This is not a poll question, but an ongoing effort by me, a layman with the diagnosis, to understand PTSD.

My father was combat, WWII, US Navy.

I think he had some(all?) of the PTSD symptoms. To include a period of wife beating about 16 years after getting out of the Navy hospital, Sampson NY(TB).

So this is my question.

Did your father have combat duty, or other military trauma that caused him to exhibit PTSD behaviors?

Didn't want anyone to worry or wonder, but I'm going to be on "R&R" for the next few days. Since we've been having such a rough go of it lately, my parents are taking our daughter for the weekend while my hubby is going to drill (Reserves). He normally enjoys that because I couple of the guys in his unit are former Active Duty (Infantry) and sometimes he'll talk to one of them. Hello all,

I'm SC 50% for PTSD and 10% for my lower back. I was denied an increase for PTSD and my case is now at the BVA. After the BVA certified my case, I was diagnosed as Bipolar I. I've been unemployed for over a year due to the PTSD (also to my then undiagnosed Bipolar). Since I'm living in Germany, I've been unable to get to any VA hospitals and have been mistreated by the medical community here.

My ETS date was January 2005. Is there any hope for me...
