SSDI AND VA COMPENSATION QUESTION

I have a relative that is receiving ssdi for depression secondary to a military injury, and is getting his paperwork together to file for depression secondary to the injury with the va. questions:

1. since he is on ssdi, would it be hard to get 100 percent depression secondary?
2. would va request all his medical records from the ssa or would he or they just need the records applicable?

SSDI vs Regular SS

Can anyone tell me if I am collecting SSDI now, when I hit regular retirement age will Social Security drop me from SSDI and put me on regular Social Security? Or will I stay on SSDI for good. My annual statement shows I will lose about 150.00 per month from my SSDI that I am collecting now compared to regular Social Security when I hit 65. Thanks for any help!

Update on my rescheduled hearing

Well I was supposed to see the Judge on monday and bad weather caused problems with the video hearing so I left with my attorney telling me that I would be rescheduled as soon as possible, The Attorney was pleased that we were going to get a different judge since the one scheduled was pretty new and had seemed to be difficult at best in the past for a positive decision. Another Delay.....

Got my notification today that I was denied SSDI based on the medical evidence. The listed the the evidence used and they don't have the C & P, nor the decision, based on that C & P, that got my my IU, based on Mental disabilities. It says I should be able to do a job like my previous job. There is nothing showing they used the statements of my coworkers and supervisor demonstrating that I can't do the job mentally. Work quarters

Doses anyone know if when someone files for Social Security Retirement, if all the quarters are already included in the calculation, or does social security still has to add the military quarters from your DD-214? Someone said that the military quarters are not added until you file for retirement and turn in your DD214. I would appreciate some insight on this issue

Hey all,

Just trying t get a feel for what to expect on this hearing. My hearing is the 29th of Dec and I haven't really spoke to my lawyers office over the past year. My memory is horrible so I forget everything. Should I bring anything other than a license? Do I need to update my lawyers info or will they get it from my doctors before the hearing? I've been unemployable for about two years now and am 80% sc, 100%IU. Thanks for your time

Why does SSDI look like such a simple thing if you meet a listed condition?

I found a web site from a lawyer that had a great deal of info about the process. As I read it, if you can document that you have a listed condition and meet the requirements of the condition then you will be approved at step 3 of the 5 step process. You do not need to deal with the RFC stuff. Am I missing something?

Approved within 2 weeks.

I filed for SSDI two weeks ago today using the online application. PTSD. Sent my monthly self-employment info from 1/01/08 till I stopped working in September '09.

Today I got a letter saying I was approved from April 1, '09. 5 month waiting period, so payment began for September. I looked at my checking account online and saw that Sept, Oct, and Nov. was deposited today.

Was expecting the process to take 3 to 5 months. Took 2 weeks. Unbelievable. I feel fortunate.

I file for Iu in July, sent VA , letter from VocRehab saying that rehab could not help me, also letter from Dr saying I can work, and SSDI Award letter. I'm in Maryland and had my ALJ Hearing today. I had to wait only 364 days to get a hearing after the 1st two denials.

A Letter form Your Doctor is Absolutely Useless for SSDI

I have been in literally thousands of hearing before Administrative Law Judges, for SSDI and SSI. I see a ton of letters from physicians, that say, "My patient can no longer work".

Those kinds of letters have about as much impact on Social Security as used toilet paper. They are utterly and completely useless, UNLESS what they say is backed up in the medical chart. I ha ve seen such letters, when the medical chart says exactly the opposite! What do you think Social...
