Chpt 35 and Dep. wanting to go through ROTC

Does anybody know if a my son would be able to collect his chapter 35 benefit if he would be accepted into an ROTC program? Since they would pay for his college it just seems he would be double dipping. But if he is still eligible to receive it, that would be a great start to savings. Thanks for anyone with input.

cutoff amount

Does anyone here know what the cutoff amount is for training into a career field I have a list of courses but I need to know if I should drop some of them or what?
Any ideas?

Award letter timeframe

OK, I went for my 5th time to see my VR&E counselor and we finally got somewhere. I sat down with her and told her about my interests, she looked up the school and said that it was approved. All I have to do now is do the 10 job search thing, put the request in writing, give her the info from the occupational outlook handbook, and give her the info for the school. can co-signed loans be discharged for 100% P&T

My parent loan with Sallie mae was recently discharged. I also co-signed a private college loan for my daughter several years before my 100% effective date. That loan is with Amenrican Education Services. Anyway, Can I submit the dischage application for that loan since she is my dependent?

Back Dated P&T and Chapter 35 benefits

I received my P&T back dated to June of 2007. My daughter has been in college since August of 2008. She applied for Chap. 35 as soon as I received my letter. Can she get her benefits back to when she began college?

ILP - Houston RO

Referred to VR&E in July 2008. Had testing/viewed tapes, then assigned to Counselor. VR&E Counselor found that I am unable to be re-trained for any employment due to two hip replacements and my mental disability of 70% for PTSD. Counselor assigned outside contractor to visit my home to inspector for needed changes in making my quality of life better (toilet upgrade banisters for stairs etc. four weeks later VR&E counselor called wife and to office to go over plan for improvement....

Loan Forgivness

Hey Everyone, I have a question, My son is in college full time and I am paying for this out of my pocket and i am also in college full time i am 90% SC today but have filled for an increase on several fronts. if i am sucessfull with my upgrade to 100% schedular will they forgive all of my loans for my schooling and the parent loans even if they were taken out this year?? thanks in advance for all your advice.

ILP Problems

Today, I went to orientation for what was supposed to be the start of my Independent Living Program. I was told that I had to do the process all over again, i.e. orientation (watch the stupid video and then do some type of assessment test.) After that I went back to see one of the vocational rehabilitation program counselors. He started going over my file, etc. and asked me what I was looking to get out of the ILP. I told him that basically I wanted some help in the form of a computer...

100% P&T loan foregiveness for daughter

I submitted my loan discharge application to Sallie Mae to discharge my parent loan. Its been 60 days and no refund yet, but expect soon.. In additon to my paren loan, my daughter also has other loans with Sallie mae. Can her college loans be discharged based on my 100% P&T status? Her loans were started (she has since graudauted and is now working on masters) prior to my 100% rating.

CHPT 34?????? VR&E

Hey guys, I just got off the phone with my VR&E counselor and he said he was mailing me the proposal plan and approval letter for 38 months of eligibility on Chpt 34?????
Course study with the credits I already have to be a CPA.....This is his idea.....I don't want to be a bean counter but at least he approved it......

I know this is the Montogemery GI Bill for Vietnam Vets......why not Chpt 31?????

I knew when I applied I was 21 years past the 12 year cut...

Going to keep the details vague in a public forum, but can cover more detail in email.

Is there any immediate relief from negligence on behalf of VR&E? What are the options?

Signed a contract to go back to school for 4 months of full time schooling which would have given me new career options. Civilian contractor created plan, signed the plan then received email stating everything was good to go. Start date came and went, Case Manager would not respond to emails or...

Voc Rehab

Long time ago, I was involved with Voc Rehab. During my time in this program, not ONCE was I provided reimbursement for travel from my house to school. Do you receive travel pay for this, and if so, who do I contact?

Maybe someone else has heard this one...I met with my voc rehab counselor a couple weeks ago and she explained there is a bill in congress that would raise the allowance paid to people in the voc rehab program while they attend school. The rates are pretty low now and she said they are trying to pass law to increase the payment to match the same monthly amount for the post 911 education benefits. Has anyone heard of this or know if this is even in the pipeline?

what do your ILP plan look like???

I was wondering if anyone else was having trouble with the ILP counselor. The one I have has a clammy, overly soft handshake, which creeps me out everytime I have to do a face to face with him. He also cannot write a ILP to save his life. Here is my ILP and you can see, it says nothing.
What do others have on thiers, I would like to see if there is some difference.
